Preparation is always key for any event - here are a few hints and tips that can set you on the path to success... that you may not have already thought about.
1) Fill the party bags the day before. You need to be sure you have enough of everything. If the main element is cake, then best to wait til the candles have been blown out. 2) Charge the battery in the camera. You don't want to take the first photo and see the battery light appear. You should also check that you have enough space on the memory card, or enough film. 3) Check for allergies or other food specialities. It seems that more and more children have food allergies, many involving nuts. But you also need to be sure which children have special diets based on religion or just parental preference (such as vegetarians). | |

If you plan on 15 minutes at the beginning of the party for late arrivals and 45 minutes for birthday cake and opening presents, that leaves a full hour you must fill with other activities and entertainment | ||

shows require a
deposit to reserve the date, and will often take a booking as short as as
a half hour - although you may pay a little above the standard hourly
rate. Make sure that you confirm the booking a few days before! Obviously if you need the birthday clown to do all the
activities they offer, you'll need more time.
Clowns are the best known party entertainment, but
there are other good kids birthday party ideas.
Magicians for kids parties tend to put on a show that is half magic, half comedy - and that's the kind of fun that kids want at a birthday party. Make sure you don't accidentally book a corporate entertainer who is used to performing 'seriously'.
Some party
magicians are also balloon artists, or comedians.
Classic entertainers like balloon modellers remain ever popular, although some children like more action - perhaps a bouncy castle.
