You want to be ready for success, so we recommend considering the following tips to get your party on the right track from even before you start!
1) Blow the balloons up on the morning of the party, not the day before... you don't want sad balloons, half deflated. If you are getting helium balloons, make sure you know who is going to pick them up from the store. 2) Charge the battery in the camera. You don't want to take the first photo and see the battery light appear. You should also check that you have enough space on the memory card, or enough film. 3) Always make it very clear on the invitations the start and end time. And don't feel you need to make a full day of it. Many kids tire quickly, and if they're eating a lot of sugar they'll run around excited, and then collapse asleep if it goes on too long. | |

These days birthday cakes are no longer just plain sponge, a bit of icing and some cheap candles on top. There's now a huge demand for more spectacular looking, tasting and themed birthday cakes. The best way to come up with ideas for your child's birthday party is the most obvious. Ask your kid. Find out what they liked at other kids' parties, what themes they might want, and how many friends they might want to invite. Although this may seem pretty obvious there are plenty of examples of parties going wrong because mum or dad 'assumed' they still liked Spider-Man when actually now Spider-Man is 'for younger kids in Cambridge'. Many children's entertainers such as clowns or puppet
shows require a
deposit to reserve the date, and will often take a booking as short as as
a half hour - although you may pay a little above the standard hourly
rate. Make sure that you confirm the booking a few days before! Obviously if you need the birthday clown to do all the
activities they offer, you'll need more time.
Clowns are the best known party entertainment, but
there are other good kids birthday party ideas.
It's hard not to love magic. It's just so... magical! If you contact a magician, make sure you check whether they perform at children's parties, because some only work at more corporate events and you don't want confusion on the special day.
Some party
magicians are also balloon artists, or comedians.
Alternatively, hiring in a bouncy castle or other giant inflatable can be amazing fun for the kids.
